New Beginning.

By the first image, i loved keeping myself a distance away so it kept my mind wandering what was beyond.
I still never had a look what was behind this, and it still wonders... suh a beautiful image! :)

The second picture i took, was while we were doing a score on the site, in similar reference to the first picture i concentrated on looking at the tree and also it's background imagining what it would look like if the tree was closer or further away or out of the picture at all... inspiring.

quote

'Don't be afraid of what you don't know, celebrate it'

A quote made by unwritten dance company and Andrea Buckley.
The quote really inspired me, as it is something i do very little of, and something to work with,
with any dance forms or obstacles i may come across.

Images on site

Whilst on site we came to find a river, i sat by on top of this bridge and felt it really inspiring to view the river from this angle.

Skinner release technique.

2 images from the SRT class, your feelings, associations and reflections:

- The marionette strings; this helps me be in touch with my body and makes me realise the stucture of my body, and the interaction and conection between my head and tail. This inspires me as i can feel my body and i can really imagine my head and body being pulled up, this restricts my movement, making my movement more interesting as i can imagine the strings pulling on my body. Whilst the strings are pulling me from beneath this allows me to connect to surfaces and the floor.

- The spongey bed; This makes my movement soft and light, i can feel all the creases in my body, and i like finding new ways of moving with less tension in my body, I find that when my eyes are closed i have a more of an experience, as i can feel what my body wants to do rather than seeing what it can do, or what it is doing, as my first initate movement would be to develop what i have seen my body do or repeat it.

3 sentences on any ideas from SRT that have inspired me in my movement:

SRT helps me to relax but also awakens my body, releasing me with more energy and endurance to keep moving whilst using imagery.

By using imagery within lesson and keeping it in my mind, it helps me with my movement as i feel i have something to work with or a goal, that i have to achieve, and that i should feel like whatever imagery that is in my mind, instead of being lost and being told what to do, it helps me focus on myself.

Whilst in the SRT technique, being in contact with the floor most of the time identifies how much i rely on surfaces and feeling the ground pushing against me, and how i can use the floor for ore than just support.

idea 2

"A dance is a measured pace,
as a verse is a measured speech." -Francis Bacon

i found this quote on the internet, it really interested me as it could be took in so many different ways, resulting in meaning different things to different people.

i like to think that, no matter how many time a verse is read whether it is from a book/poem/song, no matter how long it is, it's meaning still creates a bubble of thoughts and meanings, the same way a dance can.

idea 1

As i commute from where i live (Wolverhampton) to coventry university, i get to coventry by train, here i see many people, for many different reasons. Whilst waiting for the trains and also just by the train journey, i drink in many sights and sounds from the people and the places we pass - everyday is a different day, and it also questions me, why are they here? where are they going? when are they going to get off? what is happening to them?

Rule improvisation dance.

I think this worked well, my peers told me it was awkward to dance, using the rules, but the restrictions worked well as they thought of different movement that they could do as they were restricted. Many of them repeeated their movement, however they noticed that their movement developed along the way. They found it really interesting to work like this, even though we were in a confided space, with others working, i still had an example of what it could look like.

This is my own score made form polly's improvisation lesson, which inspired me.
My rules were to move with one hand and the other passive, without the body touching the ground, except the feet, and if contact was made it could only be made with the active hand.

Improviastion inspiration

Whilst in Polly Hudson's improvisation lesson we split into groups and produced a small improvised performance based on rules, such as:
- allowing to stand on the side but not getting attatched.
- using high and low movement.
- soft feet.
- not using contact and not looking for it.

This gave me inspiration as a starting point for choreography and researching dance ideas, therefore we wrote down our own set of rules and drew a score to give to another person.

i hope to find this interesting as to how my partner reacts to my score/rules and what ideas they have.

Disgo Project

As volunteering for 'The Fleur Darkin' Dance Company, we took part in a different kind of dance, where we were both audience and performers. It was really different for me and i have never experienced anything like this before, as far as playing with audiene's reaction's go. It really inspired me with future projects of my own.
